Using Xvideo extention

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I just upgraded my Debian machine to XFree86 4.02 and found I had to use the
Xvideo extention and load the v4l extention module via XF86Config to get
overlay support for bttv+xawtv.
Works great with my crummy old S3 Virge card!

How do I cleanly manage dependancies with the old videodev.o module?
I removed it from my /etc/modules so the kernel does not try to load at
boot.
bttv still seems to depend on this module.

How do I set this up cleanly? Recompile bttv?

Now, I noticed I can no longer rmmod bttv.

I also noticed volume ctl. doesn't work via xawtv any longer.

Are the any args I should be aware of that v4l uses?
I could not find any documented anywhere.

Anyone have any general guidance here?

Thanks!
