With bttv2 overlay mode of xawtv does not work - all I see is totally
black screen, and my problem exist only in overlay mode.


An interesting observation. Computer locks up only if there's a
meaningful signal on the input of card: for example, if card is
connected to VCR, I can do anything I want with window ( without
lockups ) until I press 'play' button.
