Hmm I added the 'v4l' but I it still does not work for me.. 

[adam@pepsi man4]$ grep -i v4l /var/log/XFree86.0.log 
(II) LoadModule: "v4l"
(II) Loading /usr/local/X11/lib/modules/drivers/linux/v4l_drv.o
(II) Module v4l: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
(II) v4l driver for Video4Linux

I don't see 'v4' in xdpyinfo but I assume it is one of the below. Perhaps
'XVideo'. 

[adam@pepsi man4]$ xdpyinfo  | less
vendor string:    The XFree86 Project, Inc
vendor release number:    4001
    XFree86-DGA
    XFree86-Misc
    XFree86-VidModeExtension
    XVideo

In both cases it is latest xawtv and latest kwintv. Here are screenshots
