dmesg would be more intresting.  Even better /var/log/messages, because I
have timestamps then and can (hopefully) see what it does these three
minutes...

That's a known bug, fixed in bttv 0.7.28.  Patch is in Linus mailbox, maybe
the test6-pre kernels have it already.
