	I did an LFS/BLFS build with a two kernel setup - 2.4.23 and 2.6.0-test11
here. I have a bit of code for a startup init that can do different things,
depending which kernel you booted. I did this to accomodate the very
different module setups of the different kernels - the code picks off the
major and minor kernel version (2.4 or 2.6) and can then do different things
based on that version. It's all on my website. :D

I'm running Gentoo now, and am almost ready to apply my 'choosing init' to
that setup when I install my 2.6.0-test11 kernel.
