Hi, I bought a Pinnacle PCTV Pro this week, but... can't get it working! Some system specs: machine: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz uname -sr: Linux 2.6.0-test11 to which applied entire 'patch-2.6.0-test11-kraxel.gz', no other tweaking. Some hardware specs: Pinnacle PCTV PRO PAL-BG/I/DK/SECAM Retail D/GB/NL (Red card) ID on card: EMPTYV-51015403-2.4 Video processor chip: Conexant Fusion 878A TV Sound processor/decoder chip: Micronas MSP 3410G B11 PAL/SECAM/NTSC/FM Radio Tuner chip: Philips TDA9887TS Multiplexer chip: Philips HEF4052BT ??: EPCOS K9456M ??: EPCOS K3953M ??: Philips TDA1308 ??: 78M05 clock-crystal: 28.6 clock-crystal: 18.4 I have tried a great many module load options and permutations for bttv. The result is that when running xawtv or tvtime I get a blue screen and indicator 'No signal' (tvtime). Between all of the permutations I've tried there's not much difference descernable between the subsequent behaviour and outout of xawtv / tvtime. There /is/ some difference when I run the program 'radio' from the xawtv package, i.e. a kernel message with some permutations that tells me there's `no radio tuning'. Let me therefore give three permutations that I've tried, with the corresponding kernel messages, and the kernel messages I get when running 'radio': Test1: no bttv options whatsoever: <6>Linux video capture interface: v1.00 <6>bttv: driver version 0.9.12 loaded <6>bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture <6>bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). <6>bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:02:0a.0, irq: 22, latency: 32, mmio: 0xf3000000 <6>bttv0: detected: Pinnacle PCTV [card=39], PCI subsystem ID is 11bd:0012 <6>bttv0: using: Pinnacle PCTV Studio/Rave [card=39,autodetected] <7>bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=00fffbff [init] <6>bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... found <6>bttv0: pinnacle/mt: id=2 info="PAL+SECAM / stereo" radio=yes <4>bttv0: using tuner=33 <6>bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... found <6>msp34xx: init: chip=MSP3410G-B11 +nicam +simple +radio <4>msp3410: daemon started <4>registering 0-0040 <6>bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found <6>bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found <6>tvaudio: TV audio decoder + audio/video mux driver <6>tvaudio: known chips: tda9840,tda9873h,tda9874h/a,tda9850,tda9855,tea6300,tea6420,tda8425,pic16c54 (PV951),ta8874z <4>tvaudio: found pic16c54 (PV951) @ 0x96 <4>registering 0-004b <4>tuner: chip found @ 0xc0 <4>tuner: type set to 33 (MT20xx universal) <4>tuner: microtune: companycode=8e3f part=42 rev=90 <4>tuner: microtune: unknown companycode <4>registering 0-0060 <6>bttv0: registered device video0 <6>bttv0: registered device vbi0 <6>bttv0: registered device radio0 <6>bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 . ok radio -f 94.0: <4>tuner: Huh? tv_set is NULL? <4>tuner: no radio tuning for this one, sorry. <4>tuner: no radio tuning for this one, sorry. On all these tests lsmod looked like this: lsmod: tda9887 8196 0 tvaudio 23180 0 msp3400 25636 0 bttv 147692 0 video_buf 23300 1 bttv v4l2_common 7296 1 bttv btcx_risc 5896 1 bttv videodev 10752 1 bttv i2c_piix4 8588 0 i2c_algo_bit 11144 1 bttv i2c_core 26248 7 tuner,tda9887,tvaudio,msp3400,bttv,i2c_piix4,i2c_algo_bit Removing tvaudio from the modules directory and running tests didn't make any difference. Btw. it occured to me also that any load options I give in /etc/modprobe.conf for module tda9887 don't seem to be passed on when that module is autoloaded. Is there anything I can do to help to get this baby working? I'll be glad to provide additional info. Thanks. brigitte
