I wish I know where is the problem myself ! I have no problem with computer cables; all I can hear is noise like I'd have no signal on tvcable. The image is perfect; only sound is missing ! I'm using 2.4.23 kernel (the latest stable version) and video4linux-20031128 version. Dmesg shows this : (it's different from 2.4.22-pre3) Linux video capture interface: v1.00 i2c-core.o: i2c core module saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.9 loaded saa7130/34: snapshot date 2003-11-28 saa7134[0]: found at 00:0a.0, rev: 1, irq: 10, latency: 32, mmio: 0xeb101000 saa7134[0]: subsystem: 1131:0000, board: Medion 5044 [card=9,insmod option] saa7134[0]: board init: gpio is 10020 i2c-core.o: adapter saa7134[0] registered as adapter 0. saa7134[0]: Huh, no eeprom present (err=-5)? i2c-core.o: driver i2c TV tuner driver registered. tuner: chip found @ 0xc0 tuner: type set to 38 (Philips PAL/SECAM multi (FM1216ME MK3)) i2c-core.o: client [Philips PAL/SECAM multi (FM1216] registered to adapter [saa7134[0]](pos. 0). i2c-core.o: driver i2c tda9887 driver registered. tda9887: chip found @ 0x86 tuner: type already set (38) i2c-core.o: client [tda9887] registered to adapter [saa7134[0]](pos. 1). saa7134[0]: registered device video0 [v4l2] saa7134[0]: registered device vbi0 saa7134[0]: registered device radio0 saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 5.500 MHz [default] tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 4.500 MHz [default] tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958) saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 4.500 MHz [default] Creative EMU10K1 PCI Audio Driver, version 0.20, 20:45:45 Nov 30 2003 emu10k1: EMU10K1 rev 7 model 0x8064 found, IO at 0xd400-0xd41f, IRQ 11 ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: 0x8384:0x7608 (SigmaTel STAC9708) emu10k1: SBLive! 5.1 card detected saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 6.000 MHz [last detected] saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 6.000 MHz [last detected] saa7134[0]/audio: audio carrier scan failed, using 6.000 MHz [last detected] I don't know what this error means (could it be because I haven't patch the kernel with lm_sensors ?) saa7134[0]: Huh, no eeprom present (err=-5)? v4lctl list show that the sound on tuner is not muted attribute | type | current | default | comment -----------+--------+---------+---------+------------------------------------- norm | choice | PAL | PAL | PAL NTSC SECAM PAL-M PAL-Nc input | choice | Televis | Televis | Television TV (mono only) Composite1 Composite2 S-Video audio mode | choice | mono | mono | mono stereo lang1 lang2 bright | int | 128 | 128 | range is 0 => 255 contrast | int | 68 | 68 | range is 0 => 127 color | int | 64 | 64 | range is 0 => 127 hue | int | 0 | 0 | range is -128 => 127 volume | int | 0 | 0 | range is -15 => 15 mute | bool | off | off | vertical f | bool | off | off | Invert | bool | off | off | y offset o | int | 0 | 0 | range is 0 => 128 y offset e | int | 0 | 0 | range is 0 => 128 If anyone had this problem before maybe could give me a hint !
