The docs with the lastest bttv-9.something says it need v4l2, and it 
seems that v4l2 is yet another kernel patch and that needs something 
else to the point of being in a patch of nettles.  :-)
So I haven't even tried to configure it.

Besides, the last 2 times I was playing with it this time of the 
night, it locked me machine up so hard I had to use the hardware 
reset button.  Since amanda was in the middle of her run, I had to 
flush what was left to a fresh tape, about 3 hours worth.

Someday I'll learn that one should not play with beta software that 
might crash you while running backups.  The cleanup is messy, an 
e2fsk on a 60Gb drive is prolly 20 minutes right there.  But, no bad 
kharma this time.
