v4l question

hi

i'm new to the list...i was hoping someone could tell me how to check the version of video for linux that is currently installed on my system. i'm trying to get a Logitech Quickcam to work with software that requires the v4l drivers in the first version (not v4l2). the camera is working right now but i'm not sure what v4l driver version is installed, and if it is indeed version 2 then i will have to patch the kernel in order to get the sw working. any advice or suggestions?

thanks
dave
