missing device /dev/v4l/video0 needed for xawtv

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Suddenly xawtv crashed and won't start again. Starting from the console it
complains:
This is xawtv-3.76, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.19-16mdk)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

I tried to do
mknod /dev/v4l/video0 c 4 64
but this seemed to be a bad idea, and I deleted it again.

I would appreciate any help a lot! (I am missing watching tv on my linux box!)
My mandrake is pretty normal but running with a win4lin kernel.
