hardware mpeg encoders with Linux

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi again,

I am trying to build a digital vcr using my old AMD-K6-2 box running RedHat 8.0. While testing some software encoders (mencoder, mythtv) I figured out my system is too slow for realtime encoding.

Can I use hardware mpeg encoders like Pinnacle's PVTVpro or Hauppauge's PVR-250 (?) for building such a system with Linux? Are there any drivers for these cards?

Buying such a card will be much cheaper than buing a new computer.

Thanks for any help,

r@xxx
