I forgot to mention that I'm using NTSC/us-cable with BTTV 0.7.106. I also tried modprobing the tvmixer module and now I have a mixer device labeled MSP3425G-B8 and when I change it's volume controls it does indeed adjust the volume. Also I put debug=2 on the msp3400 module and it does appear as if it's being used. I'm not able to get it out of mono mode apparently. Here's some output with debug=2 on: Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: VIDIOCSCHAN Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(4) Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(4) Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: VIDIOCSFREQ Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(0) Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: VIDIOCSAUDIO Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(0) Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp34xx: setbass: 32768 0x00 Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp3410: setting mode: 4.5 M BTSC-Stereo (0x0020) Apr 1 20:56:00 [kernel] msp3410: thread: sleep Apr 1 20:56:01 [kernel] msp3410: thread: wakeup Apr 1 20:56:01 [kernel] msp3410: status=0x14 (pri=yes, sec=no, mono) Apr 1 20:56:01 [kernel] msp3410: thread: sleep Apr 1 20:56:06 [kernel] msp3410: thread: wakeup Apr 1 20:56:06 [kernel] msp3410: status=0x4 (pri=yes, sec=no, mono) Apr 1 20:56:06 [kernel] msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(4) It says setting mode btsc stereo no matter what I do but this seems to have no effect. The status line also seems to say mono no matter what I do. Using dmesg I get a similar output but some more as well. msp3410: status=0x14 (pri=yes, sec=no, mono) msp34xx: watch: stereo 2 => 1 msp3400: BTSC setstereo: mono msp3400: setstereo final source/matrix = 0x300 msp3410: thread: sleep msp3410: thread: wakeup msp3410: status=0x4 (pri=yes, sec=no, mono) msp3410: thread: sleep msp34xx: AUDC_SET_INPUT(4) msp34xx: VIDIOCSAUDIO msp34xx: setvolume: mute=on 0:0 v=0x00 b=0x00 msp34xx: setbass: 32768 0x00 msp34xx: settreble: 32768 0x00 msp3400: BTSC setstereo: stereo msp3400: setstereo final source/matrix = 0x320 the second to last line that says BTSC setstereo: stereo changes if I set output to mono, or lang1, or lang2, and it changes to those accordingly. I only see that line after I close mplayer, which I thought was odd. Mplayer still says that v4l reports mono, no matter what I do.
