Hi,

sox -w -r 32000 -t ossdsp /dev/dsp2 -t ossdsp /dev/dsp

works but the audio crackles badly. Also my dmesg log
fills up with this:

btaudio: irq loop=1 risc=1, bits: OFLOW RISCI*

Any ideas what the problem might be?

You may try to look to the /procs/interrupts - possible, you have too many interrupts sources (like from your sound card, ide, network card, ..etc) shared with btaudio.

If it so - well, you have welcome to BIOS setup, disable autosetup for PCI interrupts and set up its manually. Don't ask me how, because it's some kind of voodoo :-(
