For me and some others this works with the new release of tvtime as an
workaround. Most other apps seem to keep a 150K per frame limitation in
capture mode. The status for all cards using the saa7134 driver is not
equal, especially on audio issues.
Xawtv should work first, it uses v4l-conf too. Zapping also probes for
v4l2 devices and sets my md9717 fine and records as xawtv and mp4live
(this mono only). Never tried /dev/fb0.
