Green screen with SAA7134

Hi all

I've been playing aound lately (for the first time) with V4L stuff and
I'm now slowly getting to the point where things start to work.

My setup: RH 8.0, custom 2.4.20 kernel with low-latency patches,
up-to-date emu10k1 OSS module. HW: Pentium III 450MHz, Matrox G550,
SBLive. CableTV in Switzerland.

I've a Terratec Cinergy 400, and with the latest saa7134 (snapshot
20030218, I think) I'm getting consistent sound (a common problem,
judging from the posts here).

XAWTV 3.85 works fine, though many many channels need manual fine tuning
to get the picture sharp and clear - don't know if this is normal or a
sign of something still being wrong :-)

However, anything besides xawtv (tried mplayer, mythtv, tvtime) does not
work. What interest me most at the moment is mythtv, and there I get a
consitently green image, with no sound. (with tvtime e.g. I get sound
but no picture). I can't see anything wrong in dmesg or other logs. Also
tried various insmod options to turn on debugging but couldn't get any
clue here.

Now, this seems to be related to the newest V4L2 API changes, to which
nothing but xawtv seems to have adapted yet (am I correct here?)

Recent posts from Gerd leed me to believe that things _should_ work with
the v4l[12]-compat modules, though. I'm wondering if I have to do
anything special to use those compat modules form TV applications (e.g.
not using /dev/video0 but rather something else), but until now, I
haven't been successful at all.

I think I'm missing something terribly basic here :-) Could someone give
me a hint on what could be wrong?

CU, Joe
