AverTV Stereo and btaudio

Does anybody have the AverTV Stereo card working with the btaudio module?
I can watch or record tv using the line-in signal just fine. If I insmod
the btaudio driver, messages are printed to the syslog indicating that I now
have two new devices /dev/dsp1 (digital) and /dev/dsp2 (analog) just as the
documentation suggests.

If I try to read from the digital device, I don't get any sound. I can read
from the analog device but the sound is really terrible. I tried setting
various sample rates using the "rate" parameter, but I didn't have any luck.

I'm running RedHat 8.0 with a custom 2.4.19 kernel. I considered
downloading the 0.9 version of bttv, but I didn't see anything in the
Changelog that made me think I would have more luck with it.
