Using Zoltrix TVMAX with xawtv questions

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I've searched for information about the Zoltrix TVMAX
card that in any way related to my experience. but I
haven't found anything helpful yet. I've found other
information and tried a variety of items, but I still
have problems getting xawtv TV to work with this card.
I apologize in advance if this post is rather long,
but I am including information in the hope that
someone can give me a clue about how to fix this.

Here are some facts:

I am running Linux-Mandrake 9.0 with no changes from
the recommended installation.

dmesg gives the following pertinent information:

My modules file looks like this:

# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules
that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments
begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are
ignored.

scsi_hostadapter
tuner
bttv

My modules.conf looks like this:

probeall scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi
probeall usb-interface usb-uhci
alias eth0 3c59x
alias sound-slot-0 cs4232
options sound dmabuf=1
alias synth0 opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
options cs4232 io=0x530 irq=10 dma=0 dma2=0
mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=11
# i2c
alias char-major-89	i2c-dev
options i2c-core	i2c_debug=1
options i2c-algo-bit	bit_test=1
# bttv
alias char-major-81	videodev
alias char-major-81-0	bttv
options tuner type=6
options bttv card=15

I know that the Zoltrix TVMAX is card=15. I know the
tuner on the card=6 (Temic, NTSC 4032 FY5).

The symptoms I have is that if I run xawtv in the
Windowmaker window manager, the audio and tuner work,
but I only get a black display. If I run xawtv in
either the Gnome or KDE window managers that come with
this distribution, the system freezes.

I won't go into anymore detail right now so this post
is not any longer, but I would mention that if I run
BEOS or Windows '98, this system works flawlessly.

If any one can help, or point me in a useful
direction, I would appreciate it.

Bruce
