Yes, I tried with and without the short cable. (I think MythTV does not need the cable).  Anyway it seems that no sound is coming out of the PCTV card (I also plugged a speaker directly there).  I am a little bit puzzled by the data below.  Is it normal for i2c not to find the MSP34xx?  I thought this thing was the DSP for the sound.  [You have to pardon my ignorance in this part of the hw/sw.  This is not my area of expertize!].
