Hi,

Besides other searching, I came across your list archives. I've seen
mention of both Hauppauge and Avermedia cards, but still got some
questions:
Would you say the Avermedia "works" in Linux (once you get the setup
correct)?

Do you know if it might even be detected/setup by Redhat (7.3)?

Is Avermedia a decent card compared to Hauppauge? I ask because
newegg has Avermedia AverTV cards for $41, compared to Hauppauge $99
(I just want to back up my VHS collection in a decent quality).

I infer that this card uses the BTTV drivers?

Thanks for your time!

I have 2 avermedia cards in two seperate machines, Both worked out of the box on RH 7.3 and RH 80. I can't remember the exact model # but I have one with radio and one without. I'm a satisfied avermedia customer, I paid 39 usd for the tv/video only unit, And yes they use the bttv drivers,
