While I'm not entirely doing what you are wanting, I can tell you this.
I have a Hauppage WinNT with at BT878. When doing BGR24 captures off
the s-video then displaying the picture either on my plasma display via
DVI, the picture quality looks just as good to me as my plasma's
s-video input (except the fields are interlaced). This being the case,
modern video cards do very good quality s-video, so I think a display
on an analog or interlaced display would be just fine.
Somebody really needs to port D-Scaler to Linux... :)
