Dirk,

I face the same issue (BW/Grayscale on X11) with 2.4.20 + v4l2-20021128
(which is unchanged with 20021220) in overlay mode. I'm wondering if I
need to recompile XFree86 (to update the xfreee-v4l module) with the new
v4l2 headers?

I tested with xawtv 3.80, haven't tried with 3.81 yet.
BTW, xawtv displays correct in XFree if I use grabdisplay.

(All this on RH 8.0 + NVidia GF4-MX440T using NVidia driver).
