I hope that means something to someone else coz it doesn't mean a lot to me.
If I do need to update the bttv can someone explain how to do that.
What do I need to download, from where, where do i need to put it, and
what commands to I need to install it. etc.
My modules.conf tells me it is automatically generated and that it
shouldn't be edited. If that is so which file do I need to edit?
### This file is automatically generated by update-modules"
#
# Please do not edit this file directly. If you want to change or add
# anything please take a look at the files in /etc/modutils and read
# the manpage for update-modules.
#
### update-modules: start processing /etc/modutils/0keep
# DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE!
# This file is not marked as conffile to make sure if you upgrade modutils
# it will be restored in case some modifications have been made.
#
# The keep command is necessary to prevent insmod and friends from ignoring
# the builtin defaults of a path-statement is encountered. Until all other
# packages use the new `add path'-statement this keep-statement is essential
# to keep your system working
keep
etc.
# Video capture devices
alias /dev/video* /dev/v4l
alias /dev/vbi* /dev/v41
### update-modules: start processing /etc/modutils/actions
# Special actions that are needed for some modules
# The BTTV module does not load the tuner module automatically,
# so do that in here
post-install bttv insmod tuner
post-remove bttv rmmod tuner
don't really know what i'm doing here, but if I can get this working
maybe I'll start spending more time running linux and less running
windows and get to know it better.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Edward

After I tried it, it was just blue.
My card is a pinnacle pc tv pro, pal version with a Termic tuner.
I believe tuner type 33 is for MT2032 (Microtuner).
sorry, but futher help is required.
Try to upgrade to latest bttv and try the Temic type tuner drivers one by
one and see if it works (if you really have a Temic tuner):
type=0 - Temic PAL (4002 FH5)
type=7 - Temic PAL_I (4062 FY5)
type=14 - Temic PAL_BG (4006FH5)
type=16 - Temic PAL_DK (4016 FY5)
type=18 - Temic PAL_I (4066 FY5)
type=19 - Temic PAL* auto (4006 FN5)
type=20 - Temic PAL_BG (4009 FR5) or PAL_I (4069 FR5)
type=22 - Temic PAL/SECAM multi (4046 FM5)
type=30 - Temic PAL* auto + FM (4009 FN5)
type=34 - Temic PAL_BG (4106 FH5)
type=35 - Temic PAL_DK/SECAM_L (4012 FY5)
Good luck,
Balazs
With computers you need knowledge, luck is too unreliable.
Edward shall post "dmesg|grep -e tv -e tuner" for this purpose.
