SAP / video synch question

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I posted these questions about six months ago and nobody seamed to know
the answers. I was hoping if I were to repost my questions that hopefully
someone might be able to help?

I own a Hauppauge Wintv #401-DBX_stereo (NTSC) card. This card has a
MSP3430G audio chip on-board. I am wondering if the card itself is
capable of receiving/demodulating the Second Audio Program signal using
a subcarrier signal on some channels?

I have been trying to locate specs on SAP like: What frequencies does it
use, what kind of modulation does it use etc...

On a semi-related topic, does anyone know if the audio-squelching can be
disabled in the BTTB driver? Some channels have the video scrambled but
the audio is just fine. unfortunately, it seams like when the video can
not synch, the audio gets muted.

In case the above questions seam strange, I ask because I am blind and
"Descriptive Video Services (DVS) often get carried on the SAP channel
here in Canada; the video doesn't much matter to me so it would be nice if the
audio portion of the video-scrambled channels came through!

thanks
  Monty
