John, You might want to check on this site: http://www.winischhofer.net/ Thomas is the maintainer of the SIS drivers. The stuff there may be more recent than those in XFree. However, I still have freezing/crash problems with OpenGL support on my Asus TUSI-M (SIS 630ET chipset) running Chromium, so YMMV.
