Where do you just > say 'ntsc'? Is this a pseudo fb.modes setting or something? You don't get a console on your TV. You don't load the maven module. You don't use matroxset or any of that. You load i2c-matroxfb, and load i2c-dev. This way, DirectFB can talk to the maven chip using /dev/i2c0 devices or whatever. DirectFB has code which initializes the maven, and sets it to ntsc. The directfb options are matrox-crtc2 and matrox-tv-standard=ntsc. dfbtv does both of these for you, all you need is to have a DirectFB with all of the right stuff installed, and apply the patch to 2.4.19 that enables the interrupt from CRTC2 (in the patches subdirectory of DirectFB). That is, there is no mode or anything, it just sets up the maven and puts it in ntsc mode. Your CRTs refresh does not need to match that of the TV output.
