I have never tried real-time MPG4 conversion. I do know when I use transcode to convert to MPG[12], that it is really slow, and I am told it is becoz of the size of the calculations. Whereas, when I use it to conver to MPEG4 (Divx) using the ffmpeg encoder, I can transcode @ about 45fps on my XP 1800+ and maxing out the CPU. I have no idea what real-time encoding might do to this mix (becoz I want to edit out the commercials so I use lavrec to record) but there might seem to be enough leeway to have transcode record and encode on the fly... -- Michael O'Keefe | mokeefe@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Live on and Ride a '96 Honda CBR1000F| roxus@xxxxxxx / | I like less more or less less than |Work:+1 858 845 3514 / | more.
