I have an AVerMedia AVerTV Stereo card, which looks just like the M168T+NE41S in the gallery, hooked up to a us-cable line. It is autodetected as card=13 by bttv-0.7.97, but the default tuner=2 only gets me two stations. Many of the other settings, including tuner=1 and tuner=3, get me indistinguishable results: every channel I expect to get. My problem is that most of the channels have rather poor reception, especially compared to the very good reception in Windows XP with AVerMedia's driver. The best reception in Linux is about as good as the worst reception in XP. I would be glad to do whatever reporting or debugging is necessary to improve the reception. Hopefully this is a good start: happy:/home/jhohm/src/bttv-0.7.97/tools# ./detect 0xa0: eeprom (bt878, Hauppauge-848) 0xc2: tuner (error: Device or resource busy) happy:/home/jhohm/src/bttv-0.7.97/tools# ./eeprom 0000 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0010 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0020 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0030 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0040 ff 40 02 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0050 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0060 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0070 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff 00 61 14 61 .............a.a 0080 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 0090 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00a0 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00b0 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00c0 ff 40 02 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00d0 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00e0 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ................ 00f0 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff 00 04 14 61 ...............a relevant kernel messages upon loading bttv.o: bttv: driver version 0.7.97 loaded bttv: using 4 buffers with 2080k (8320k total) for capture bttv: Host bridge is Intel Corp. 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX Host bridge bttv: Host bridge needs ETBF enabled. bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 00:11.0, irq: 9, latency: 32, mmio: 0xdf001000 bttv0: detected: AVerMedia TVCapture 98 [card=13], PCI subsystem ID is 1461:0004 bttv0: using: BT878(AVerMedia TVCapture 98) [card=13,autodetected] bttv0: enabling ETBF (430FX/VP3 compatibilty) i2c-dev.o: Registered 'bt848 #0' as minor 0 i2c-core.o: adapter bt848 #0 registered as adapter 0. bttv0: Avermedia eeprom[0x4002]: tuner=2 radio:no remote control:no bttv0: using tuner=3 bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found tvaudio: TV audio decoder + audio/video mux driver tvaudio: known chips: tda9840,tda9873h,tda9874h/a,tda9850,tda9855,tea6300,tea6420,tda8425,pic16c54 (PV951) i2c-core.o: driver generic i2c audio driver registered. i2c-core.o: driver i2c TV tuner driver registered. tuner: probing bt848 #0 i2c adapter [id=0x10005] tuner: chip found @ 0xc2 bttv0: i2c attach [client=Philips (SECAM+PAL_BG) (FI1216MF,ok] i2c-core.o: client [Philips (SECAM+PAL_BG) (FI1216MF] registered to adapter [bt848 #0](pos. 0). bttv0: registered device video0 bttv0: registered device vbi0
