Hardware prices have changed the possibilities for
this technology. I have a legitimate opportunity to develop and deploy
large (50-1000) camera systems. These systems must capture and make
available for presentation up to 30 days of video from all cameras as well
as most common features like motion detection and screen manipulations like
zoom . Is v4l capable of performing high end camera functionality and
do any of you have a fairly mature and dependable implementation at least as far
as capture and encoding in MPEG4 format as well as a presentation mechanism that
can present the video even if the controls are rough. I have every thing else
meaning hardware, assembly capacity, and server and networking
software.
This is legit. I am working with a Taiwanese
manufacturer and large web based US marketing and distribution outfit.
This is exactly the kind of thing that Linux is to become. This is the
second industrial revolution. I am a developer and I am friends with the
president of the marketing company. I have been telling this guy about how I
could build different devices based on off the shelf PC hardware and
Linux for years and how I could produce various products that he sells for
fractions of the cost with more functionality. I formally presented a
design to him for a large distributed video system that uses J2EE functionality
and I want to use v4l if possible. It is silly for me to attempt to catch
up with you on this topic in the time frame that I have. So I need help and you
will be paid if you have the solution.
I have a trade show on tap for Sept, so I need to
bolt together a magic show by then.
I am sorry if this is not the correct forum for
this type of thing, but you are the people that I trust and you know what I
mean. I do not know where else to look for you guys.
