Strange.  That thread doesn't show up on the public archives page at redhat 
that I read before posting, but I see it now on the 'private' mailman 
archives.

I'm not using a VIA board, though.  NVidia nforce.  Similar symptoms, as I 
see.  Ah well.  Messing with the PCI latency does help a bit at full res 
capture.  Capturing at quarter-res is pretty-much artifact free.  'suppose 
I'll email nvidia and ask them what's up.
