You should obtain the v4l compliant application which has the codec.

The camera driver is accessed through the v4l API, and the application
should already handle that for you. Any camera should be supported, in
theory, as long as the application and the driver have common image
formats.

Hopefully, someone else can recommend an application for you, since I
have no knowledge in that area. Long time ago I experimented with
voxilla, and it seemed to work.
