After the 1.6.0 release. mjpegtools-1.6.0 could be released at any moment now, so it could be pretty soon. We've heard more of such problems, most people where using nvidia.com's binary drivers. Odd interaction ;-)... I've tested with the newest binary drivers and X 4.2.0 and experienced no problem. Submit a bug report, please ;-). > I tried running it as a non-root user, and it seemed to work fine, > although I did have to increase the buffer size. It sounds really odd to me. I can just say: try the newest kernel, newest BTTV driver, newest mjpegtools beta release (or latest CVS). Try to run it (without nvidia.com's binary drivers or similar things) and submit a bug report to our mailinglist (don't forget to mention your hardware configuration). > On top of this, the files that I recorded with lavrec generate a lot of > warnings and errors when I run them through mencoder (which I've been > using to do divx4 encoding of the avis). As far as I know, you're supposed to run mjpegtools' AVI decoder (lav2yuv/lav2wav), which outputs raw YUV (video) and WAV (audio) data. This can be fed into mencoder to create divx4 files. There's also lav2divx, which is mjpegtools' own divx-encoder (based on avifile).
