I want to be able to run an fbtv to a framebuffer device on my "pvr", but in trying to test the concept I am running into troubles trying to start fbtv from an xterm. This is what I get: $ ssh root@pvr xterm [ on xterm on "pvr" ]: # fbtv -v -M -d /dev/fb0 using linux console font "/usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts/lat1-16.psf.gz" ERROR: tty is not a linux console. You can not start this tool from a pseudo tty (xterm/ssh/screen/...). # fbtv -v -M -d /dev/fb0 </dev/vc/0 using linux console font "/usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts/lat1-16.psf.gz" WARNING: remote display `localhost:10.0' not allowed, using `:10.0' instead I want the keyboard input for the fbtv to come from the xterm. Can I not do this? Is there a technical reason or was the above just put into place to stop the "unaware"? Also, on my system, /dev/fb0 is a Matrox G400 with the CRTCs swapped so that fb0 is the TV-Out port with the BES rerouted to it. It does not seem to be scaling the output to my 800x600 framebuffer. I must be missing something. Thanx, b. -- Brian J. Murrell
