Hi people.

I installed NVrec, and marvelled at the capabilities of this program. No
frames
were lost at all.

It did not record audio correctly though. Audio sounds like a chainsaw, and
changes
with the images, as if video is reproduced instead of sound. I did the
following
to test (always with DIVX4rec)

-Installed last version of NVrec
-Recorded with and w/o -raw option (no difference)
-Reproduced with Mplayer and other players (same problem)
-Exported a wav file using Mplayer, and reproduced the wav with XMMS.
 Same sound.
-Observed the wav with a hex editor, and strangely found the samples to be
grouped in blocks of 3 (or 6) bytes, instead of the 2/4 expected with 16
bit audio/stereo. (This something to with video again? rgb triples?)
-If, using a mixer (gmix) program, I mute the IGain channel, no noise is
 record. Strange...
-I record audio from the camera separately, using 'rec', and all is ok.

I suspect this may have something to do with the VIA VT82C686 chipset and
the newer drivers.

Any suggestions?

John

Install the ALSA drivers. The OSS drivers for the VIA686 have never worked...
