problem with v4lctl hanging

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I am new to video under Linux and think I may be having a problem.
I am running kernel 2.4.18
(SuSE distribution) and a ATI AIW Radeon
DDR 32 Mb card. I have XFree 4.2.0 installed and the
ati.2 drivers
from Gatos along with the Gatos radeon.o kernel module.

In
/etc/modules.conf I have:

alias char-major-81 bttv
options -k bttv radio=1
card=63
post-install bttv /sbin/modprobe "-k" tuner # just added this

(I don't know if
that's relevant anyway...)

I haven't even begun to get into seeing if I can see any
video
yet, but at this point, I am just trying the following commands:

modprobe
videodev
v4lctl -v2 -c /dev/video0 setstation next

and it just seems to hangs on the
v4ctl. I have to ^C to get
out of it. I can find no errors anywhere in /var/log or
anywhere
else I can think of. What could be wrong?

I have tried this both with and
without the X server running, and
both as root and as a non root user. I don't think I need the
X
server running at this point, but it doesn't seem to help anyway.

I think this must be
an easy problem, but I can't figure it....
Thanks!

The device /dev/video1 looks OK
as far as I can tell:

lrwxrwxrwx    1 root root            6 Mar 19  2000 /dev/video -> video0
crw-rw---- 1 root
video 81, 3 Sep 23 21:55 /dev/video3
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 2 Sep 23 21:55 /dev/video2
crw-
rw---- 1 root video 81, 1 Sep 23 21:55 /dev/video1
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 0 Sep 23 21:55
/dev/video0

Output of lsmod:
