Hi.. I need help setting up my TV card on my linux machine. I'm running mandrake 8.1 on an AMD 700 box I tried following the instructions on the HOWTO that comes along ( BTTV-howto ) but got in to a dead end when I'm running xawtv this is what I get: This is xawtv-3.72, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.8-26mdk) can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device no video grabber device available this is the dmesg about the BTTV driver : bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture and here is what's in my /dev : ls -alF /dev | grep video lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 11 Feb 28 17:54 video -> /dev/video0 crw------- 1 root sys 81, 0 Feb 27 17:52 video0 crw------- 1 root sys 81, 1 Feb 27 17:52 video1 crw------- 1 root sys 81, 2 Feb 27 17:52 video2 crw------- 1 root sys 81, 3 Feb 27 17:52 video3 I also mkdir under /dev called v4l and put there a soft link to /dev/video0 but still nothing... :-( WHAT DID I MISS ???? please help with instruction or some more reference source 10x in advance -- Yehuda Drori http://whatsup.homelinux.net
