Hi..
I need help setting up my TV card on my linux machine.
I'm running mandrake 8.1 on an AMD 700 box
I tried following the instructions on the HOWTO that comes along ( BTTV-howto
) but got in to a dead end

when I'm running xawtv this is what I get:
This is xawtv-3.72, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.8-26mdk)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available

this is the dmesg about the BTTV driver :

bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded
bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture
bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded
bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture
bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded
bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture

bttv: driver version 0.7.72 loaded

and here is what's in my /dev :
ls -alF /dev | grep video
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           11 Feb 28 17:54 video -> /dev/video0
crw------- 1 root sys 81, 0 Feb 27 17:52 video0
crw------- 1 root sys 81, 1 Feb 27 17:52 video1
crw------- 1 root sys 81, 2 Feb 27 17:52 video2
crw------- 1 root sys 81, 3 Feb 27 17:52 video3
I also mkdir under /dev called v4l and put there a soft link to /dev/video0
but still nothing... :-(

WHAT DID I MISS ????
please help with instruction or some more reference source
10x in advance
