I give. All I really want to do is write some Java utilities to make my spare box work like TiVo. The good news is I've learned how to recompile the kernel and support modules in the system. But getting V4L to work is turning into a death march. The current nightmare is getting mjpegtools to compile and install. It's just ore version conflicts. It's worth $100 to me to get this working. I have on hand RedHat 6.1, 7.1 & 7.2, SuSe 7.3, a DC10plus card & Iomega Buz. The box is i586 with 380 megs of RAM. The first person who sends a detailed set of instructions of what I need to do to modify one of my Linux distros to get this thing working gets the bucks. I'll even switch to Debian if that's the best solution. I know how to use tar, make etc... What I need are the right versions of the required files and the order in which to do the changes. Thanks, r.b.
