Re: mepg combine utility

Cat has worked for me also, only it gets the time coding wrong (visible from the DVD player). I use mpeg3cat which is part of the libmpeg3 pakage.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work directly on system streams. You need to concatenate the video and audio streams separately and then multiplex them together. I think mpeg3cat is capable of extracting the audio and video streams. I use mplex to multiplex (mjpegtools).

I've had no success doing it that way. Most players seem to get stuck when it reaches the point where the mpegs are joined, and cant get past there. I saw a little info on the web about adding splice points into the frame headers, but the info was very vague.

probably not much use if the files are of different bitrate, size, etc.
Needless to say, I've done it several times and have good results.

Subject: mepg combine utility

Hi,
Can someone please recommend a fast method to combine multiple mpeg-1
files into one big file. I was using the mpgtx tools join
feature, but that
tool seems to corrupt the first 2-10 seconds of video on low fps mpegs.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me? speed is the key point.
