just add 'Load "v4l"' in the modules section of your XF86Config-4 file.
For redhat, you might have to install the XFree-v4l-x.x.x-x.i386.rpm

Well, I am loading v4l in my XF86Config file. I also checked the log file
and it says that it is loading.
When I run xawtv without -noxv, all I get is vertical bars on the screen.
What else could it be?
