Hi Erik, thanks for this tip. There is a little bit of mysticism around the whole v4l2 stuff, no clear way which one can go. -Gerd I have asked about the patches before. The response I got was the 2.4.15-pre patches will work against 2.4.16. Not true. Hunks fail. What you need is: http://bytesex.org/patches/v4l2-20011206.tar.gz http://bytesex.org/bttv/bttv-0.8.31.tar.gz Those worked for me. -Erik Fri, 4 Jan 2002 15:25:23 +0100 - Gerd Bitzer > Hi Folks, > > happy new year first of all. > > I have a question regarding this software, namely how to implement it. > > My system has kernel 2.4.16 from kernel.org, and I have updated bttv to the recent 0.7.87. But when I switch from program to program using xawtv, sometimes the picture freezes. I can thaw xawtv up by switching one program up or down, but every third to fifth switch the freezing happens (but nothing other, the systems remains completely stable). > > I have downloaded Justin Schoemans NVrec in it's actual release and it works, but there are recommendations to use v4l2 with NVrec, so I decided to give it a try (maybe also to solve this freezing problem). But now my problem begins. That I should use bttv-0.8.31 is relatively clear so far, but there are some patches mentioned under http://bytesex.org/patches/ which should also be applied, but there are only patches for 2.4.13, 2.4.14 und 2.4.15-pre6, but none for 2.4.16. Browsing throu the listarchive didn't enlighten what I should do, inspecting the tar.gz archives for instance of bttv-0.8.31 also didn't solve the questions. > > Could anybody please shed some light over this question, kind of a cooking recipe for instance ? > > Thanks in advance ______________________________________________________________________________ Keinen Jackpot mehr verpassen!
