There's a bttv2 0.7.87 you should probably try first.
There's a compile script that lets you make the modules
outside your linux tree and install.

Note that you'll want to delete
/lib/modules/{kernel-version}/kernel/drivers/sound/btaudio.o
since the later btaudio goes into .../kernel/drivers/media/video
