Hauppauge: msp34xx I/O error on kernel 2.4.7 - any clue for me ?

Hi

strange things happen. I have a Hauppauge WinTV Theater on an Asus A7M266 Board
running Kernel 2.4.7 . Until yesterday, everything went fine. But after moving
my stuff into a new PC case, also adding a IDE hard disk, CD-ROM and a SCSI
CD-RW, I get errors from my tv card drivers looking like this:

msp3400: chip reset failed, penguin on i2c bus?
 ... and so on

My PCI cards may be plugged into the slots in a different order, too. I
didn't care much about that. But those are the only changes which happened.

After encountering these error messages, I unplugged the new drives in an
attempt to restore the former situation, but the errors kept going.

Remarkably, the sound vanishes only now and again, and not everytime the
driver says it should. Also, the error messages come to a halt after some
time watching the same channel, but they reappear on channel switching.

The really frightening thing is: when I try to remove the tv card modules,
my machine freezes badly with kernel panic. I tried this once and never
again since.

Does anyone have a clue what I can do to get my configuration straight ?
Because I haven't.

If you need more info (PCI listings etc.) just give me a note.

Thanks for taking the time
Gunther
