Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro problem (driver related?)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I'm very sorry to bother this list again with my problems but this is an unusual thing.

My card just works perfectly but sometimes (at least once a day) when I change channels the screen suddenly turns white with these stripes actively running trough it, like on this screenshot: http://www.techisg.org/~don/tvshot.jpg When I try to change a channel then, nothing happeneds and the image just stays the same, only the channel name in the xawtv tilebar changes.

In order to restore normal operation I need to shutdown the computer and cold boot it again after a minute. Just reloading the modules has no effect, the module doens't complain about anything and just loads like it's supposed to, but the problem remains.

The problem can me easely reproduced by starting the 'radio' program, shutting it down and then starting the 'xawtv' program, sometimes these steps have to be repeated once or twice. Other video sources on the card still work the way they're supposed to, like s-video.

I have tried to manually set the card id to 52 (Pinnacle PCTV Studio Pro) when loading the bttv modules, but the problem will still occur.

Can this be a tuner problem?
I just bought the card recently, new from the store. But could it be that my card is broken?
I don't use windows, so I can't try if it has the same problem there.

Is there a way to reset the card while running? Because maybe that will work..
