Hello friends, I have an immediate task at hand... I have a CANON camcorder, and a 20 minutes recording of a personal occasion on it. I want to make a mpeg file out of it, or better still a Video CD. I have a Pixelview bt878 based TV tuner card, which works fine under Xawtv and other programs. It has both a S-Video and composite video input. And I am using RH 7.0 and Debian Potato (btw, that's what I call double boot ;-) Now my questions.... 1. I could'nt figure out how to connect the audio. The S-Video cable carries only video (please correct me if I'm wrong), and for composite, the audio connector at my tuner card end is different from the one in my Television, while the video is same). Any ideas? 2. My system is AMD K6-II 400 MHz. Under Xawtv(-3.37), while recording to AVI Riff format, I lose a lot of frames even under 15 fps. Probably due to my HDD speed.... I have lots of RAM (224 MB), and can afford a 180 MB ramdisk, if it helps. If anyone has any experience with this, please tell... I've tried avifile, but have only an older version which crashes out-of-the-box. The newer versions fail to compile on the picky RH7 compiler, though it's been some time since I tried last. If anyone knows any optimized recording software, which can record at 25 fps on my hardware, please let me know ! And if I do record avi, which software is best for encoding into mpeg? And for converting mpeg file to VCD (GNU VCDimager ???) Thanks for your time. Loki -- Cricket scoreboard for linux For more info, visit http://scoreboard.sourceforge.net
