Some postproduction tools in the movie industry (compositing, etc.) use (and output to screen) 10 bit logarithmic color tables. They run on special SGI (I believe ther is a version of "Flame" from "Discreet Logic") or dedicated hardware. I have seen preview systems (progressive scan 16:9 video screen with 2048 herizontal rsolution and harddisk based VCR - unbelievable picture!!!)
