I fiddled with the BIOS - I found that telling the BIOS that the operating system was PNP helped resolve IRQ conflicts under Windows. I made a list, and as far as I can tell there is not a spare IRQ to be had, so I didn't try changing slots yet. I figured if slots was a problem, Linux would say so. Thanks for your interest, Gerd!
