On Tue, 15 May 2001, I wrote about my troubles with the WinTV Go: > bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=03546808 > bttv0: aiee: error loops > bttv0: resetting chip In desparation, I tried moving the card to another PCI slot, and found another program to control it, "videodog." It works! I was then able to get xawtv to run, by setting the "capture = grab" mode instead of overlay mode. Not surprising, I've got a pretty graindead video card. Looking at my motherboard's user manual, it mentions that slots 4 and 5 (where the bttv card did not work) share DMA control signals, which seems like it was the culprit. Lessons: 1. All PCI slots are not equal. Try another one. 2. Debug video-capture card problems with xawtv in "capture=grab" first, _then_ try the kinky things with overlays and Xvideo. Thanks for listening, and thanks for V4L! Steve
