Almost...but not quite...

Hello all,

A little help from the list for a bttv/WinTV/xawtv newbie please.. :)

OS: Linux
Kernel: 2.4.2
Hardware:	Hauppauge WinTV Model 401
Software:
  bttv: bttv-0.7.59
bttv: bttv-0.8.11 (I've tried them both)
  xawtv:	xawtv-3.40

I think that's all the important stuff...

Problem:

I can't get a clear picture or clear audio from xawtv.. If I tune the card to
US, NTSC, Cable ch. 3; I *almost* get a picture. I can tell that something is
there, and that it kinda sorta looks like the talking head on CNN-Headline
News (the channel that my DirecTV receiver is tuned to). I can hear the correct
audio for CNN-HN, mixed with a lot of static, but the audio is there. The video
is 90 - 95% noise.

Any pointers on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

What I've tried so far:

Changing the coax feeding the WinTV card.
Multiple insmod options to the bttv drivers.
All of the NTSC frequency charts in the xawtv list.
Verify that my DirecTV receiver is using Ch. 3 as the output channel.
Both of the bttv driver versions listed above.

That's all the information I can think of to include that sounds useful. Any
other that's needed, just ask. :)

 Any ideas anyone?
