Macrovision colorstripe question

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello all, I have a couple of questions... I've looked through the list archives and only saw a brief mention of this, without the info I'm looking for. I apologize if I missed it and am duplicating old posts. On with it:

1. I watch DVDs on my PC by running a DVD console into an Avermedia bt848 card. This works fine, except for the Macrovision colorstripe protection showing up. It's ugly. I've heard that adjusting the bdelay of the bt848 card by setting a register can reduce or even eliminate this effect. (the screenshots I saw were impressive) I think I see where to set this value in the source code, but I don't want to compile a new kernel a dozen times while I test this out. Is there a way to set this parameter when loading the bttv module? In the xawtvrc file? I've been digging for this info, and can't find it anywhere else...

2. I also have fairly nasty interlacing (I think) effects when there is motion in a movie (quite often :-))... Any way to compensate for this? It can be quite distracting. The only thing I've seen on this is the DTV project (http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net), but it is windows only. Doesn't do me much good.

Thanks for your time, everyone, hopefully there is a way to do this...
