PCI/USB card + IBM PC-Camera question

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

This is my first foray into web camera type stuff so I decided to start
out small. I purchased a Belkin 2-Port USB/PCI port card. It has an
Opti chipset 82C861 and detects just fine under RHL7.0 and Win98/SE
(this is a dual-boot machine) The PC-Camera is a model 3.02 near as
I can tell. It works fine under Win98, of course where I dont care
if it works. I tested it on that side to see if the hard was working
(14 day return policy).

I have modprobed ibmcam.o and it doesnt appear to detect the camera
on any port. Checked cat /proc/devices.
xawtv complains about device not found /dev/video which is a
symlink to video0. The V4L stuff is also installed. The permissions
for the video0 are

crw 1 henris root 81,0

So now what? Or halp!

Or am I even on the right list? The only other one I havent tried
yet is the linux-usb list.

Regards,
Henri
