(resend) Problems with Hauppauge WinTV

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

This is a resend of a previous message which had an attached .png file
that illustrated the problem. That message is held until the list
mediator decides if it is ok. I apologize for sending such large mail.
This message should suffice; if you need to see the problem, either the
other mail will get through, or I will send a smaller version of the
image.

All,

Does anyone have any information on the below problem? Do other cards
have the same problem?

Thanks in advance,
Peter Kaczowka

The Hauppauge WinTV cards we are having problems with are model 38101
Rev B410 and 44001 Rev B110. We are using the Linux bttv drivers.

The problem is visible, coherent, noise when the tuner is set to
channel 2 (standard CATV frequency). With some cards, the problem
is also visible on channels 3 through 5 at low CATV input levels.
The channel 2 RF signal level at the input of the card has been
checked --- the problem exists even with a signal level of 20 dBmV.
Higher channels exhibit OK reception even with lower signal levels.

The noise consists of nine completely stationary
vertical bars (each roughly 1/32 of the screen width).
They become more pronounced when the modulation level
or RF signal level of channel 2 is decreased.
